Input at the Virtual Consultation on Rev. 3 of the Global Digital Compact

August 2024

Global Digital Justice Forum

The Global Digital Justice Forum delivered its statement on Rev 3.0 of the Global Digital Compact (GDC) at a virtual consultation convened by the co-facilitators of the GDC on 22 August 2024. In its statement, the Forum flagged some critical gaps in the text of the GDC which must be addressed to achieve its ambitious vision of transformative global digital cooperation:

  1. Silence on development financing stimulus
  2. Short changing sustainable digital transition
  3. A status-quoist vision of data governance
  4. Sidestepping the WSIS mandate
  5. Absence of a robust human rights scaffolding
